Perforce Offers Mac Developers
Software Configuration Management System for Mac OS X

Now Mac development teams can share code easily between different platforms

ALAMEDA, Calif., Nov. 26, 2001 - Perforce Software, Inc., announced the release of its fast Software Configuration Management (SCM) system for the Mac OS X. For the first time, Macintosh software developers will have access to a complete SCM system within the native Mac OS X environment. Perforce's extensive platform support enables Mac application development teams to share code easily among developers on more than 50 operating systems.

"We heard from our customers, such as Macromedia and Symantec, that the Mac marketplace was desperate for a dedicated SCM system to coincide with the launch of Mac OS X," said Nigel Chanter, chief operating officer of Perforce Software. "Developers' needs drive our product enhancements and we expect Mac OS X to be an integral part of mixed platform development environments."

Mac related development accounts for more than 10 percent of Perforce customers' projects. Support for Mac OS X is the latest addition to Perforce's unrivaled support of more than 50 different platforms.

"Perforce was an invaluable tool which helped us maintain our code on multiple platforms while we implemented the Mac OS X version of Macromedia FreeHand 10," said Scott Thompson, Macintosh technical lead, Macromedia. "Perforce SCM will definitely speed our time to market when we develop future OS X products."

The Perforce SCM system for OS X is available immediately. CWPerforce - a plug-in allowing integration between the Perforce SCM for OS X and the CodeWarrior 7 development environment - will be available in December 2001.

Licenses start at $600 per person, and the price decreases as more licenses are added.
