Perforce Integrates with Windows Explorer: Simplifying and Speeding Access to SCM System

Developers gain quick access to Perforce and non-SCM users gain version control from a familiar environment

ALAMEDA, Calif., January 6, 2004 - Perforce Software today announced the release of version 2003.2 of its Fast Software Configuration Management (SCM) System, featuring the Perforce Plug-In for Windows Explorer (P4EXP). It gives one-click access to Perforce SCM functionality when developers use Windows Explorer to browse files and folders. In addition to providing easier access to developers, this advance also gives novice SCM users access to powerful source control via the familiar file management environment of Windows Explorer (see Screenshot 1).

Perforce 2003.2 also features an improved Web interface. The new look of the Perforce Web Client (P4Web) is more consistent with the look and feel developers are used to in Perforce's Windows, Linux and Mac visual interfaces.

Additional server enhancements in version 2003.2 include: improved performance; more versatile file diff layouts for mixed-platform environments; and, new options for integrating files and viewing annotated file content.
