Perforce Software Announces Integration with
National Instruments LabVIEW 8

- Perforce Software today announced a new out-of-the-box integration between its software configuration management system and National Instruments LabVIEW. The integration is part of a suite of project-based development tools in LabVIEW 8.

Perforce tracks and manages source code, document, and digital asset development for software production environments. NI LabVIEW is a graphical software development environment designed for engineers and scientists to create custom design, control, and test systems.

With the integration, developers can access Perforce's source code control functionality through both the LabVIEW menus and the new LabVIEW Project, a system view of all the files in a LabVIEW application. Users can add files to the Perforce repository, check them in and out, get revision information and retrieve the latest version of LabVIEW files. As a result, a LabVIEW user can quickly and easily begin using Perforce to make changes to LabVIEW code and other files in design, control, and test applications. The integration also enables developers to collaborate with other users working on the same project.

"Engineers are increasingly recognizing the value of source code management software, and National Instruments is ensuring that NI LabVIEW users have first-class integration with SCM providers such as Perforce," said Pete Zogas, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at National Instruments. "Using Perforce, NI LabVIEW users have an excellent SCM integration on all of the most popular operating systems, including Windows, Mac and Linux. Quality-conscious projects and teams can benefit greatly from this integration."

"With this powerful integration, hardware designers can manage their binary files and source code efficiently," said Nigel Chanter, chief operating officer of Perforce Software. "The integration with LabVIEW is a natural fit for Perforce because it easily manages terabytes of data for large teams in geographically distributed locations. Engineers and managers can access Perforce from within the LabVIEW environment to access the project-critical information they require."
