Testimonial: Certain Affinity
Certain Affinity, developer of Halo 2's Blastactular Map Pack for Bungie and Microsoft, singles out Perforce technical support staff for its excellent service.
Customer Profile
Certain Affinity's mission is to create innovative action-oriented games set in immersive worlds. In 2007, they released their first product, Halo 2's Blastactular Map Pack for Bungie and Microsoft. The Map Pack was received with much enthusiasm from Halo 2 fans, who began downloading en masse—so fast, in fact, that Microsoft's "lifetime sales projection" was eclipsed in just two months.
The Purchase
Key factors that facilitated a quick purchase of Perforce were ease of initial deployment, readily accessible reference material on the website, and outstanding technical support."
Certain Affinity purchased Perforce following a brief evaluation on recommendation from a client. "Key factors that facilitated a quick purchase of Perforce were ease of initial deployment, readily accessible reference material on the website, and outstanding technical support," said Martin Galway, Certain Affinity's operations manager, audio director and very part-time Perforce administrator.
During the evaluation period, one of the projects required a client located in Irvine, California to sync to the head revision from the Perforce Server in Austin, Texas. As the file sizes grew, the bandwidth required to sync increased from 1 mbps to 10 mbps, resulting in a significant expense for the client. A solution was much needed. "I called Perforce technical support hoping for a miracle and it resulted in a no cost setup of the Perforce Proxy, which facilitated on-demand file access and saved the client valuable time and money," said Galway.
The Star Treatment
"The ease with which support is provided to users by Perforce's support team makes it seem so simple—like a monkey could use Perforce. P4V is very intuitive and basic features can be configured quickly, however, to take advantage of features like Time-lapse View (to review file history within a window) and Revision Graph (to visualize the entire branching structure), it takes a little more in-depth knowledge. Whenever I call Perforce technical support for assistance, not only do they successfully fix the problem, but they're genuinely interested in the specifics and keep track of all the issues. They never lose sight of the problem and provide tremendous solutions."
"Our experience with Perforce support by far has been unsurpassed—helpful, cordial, and knowledgeable. I will always especially call them out when recommending Perforce. You can put that on a placard in the breakroom!" concluded Galway.
