Announcing Deprecation of P4Sandbox, P4Web, and the Perforce Review Daemon

On May 1st, 2015, Perforce will officially cease development on P4Web, P4Sandbox, and the review daemon. We will also end support for these products on the same date. The most recent builds of P4Weband P4Sandbox have been archived in the Perforce Workshop for folks who need them. The source code for P4Web is available in the Workshop, and the P4Sandbox source code will be released in the coming weeks. The review daemon source code remains available as before.

As someone who has worked on all these products over the years, I find it a bit hard to say goodbye to them, but our new Helix platform better addresses the problems these tools were built to solve. Helix Swarm has taken on the roles of both P4Web and the review daemon, providing a very capable browser and a fantastic reviewing system. If you would like change reviews like you had with the old review daemon it is very simple to configure. P4Sandbox is still useful for folks looking for distributed version control workflows, but the new DVCS functionality in the 2015.1 P4D release (which we're calling the Helix Versioning Engine) is both faster, more flexible, and will continue to evolve and improve over the coming releases.
