Home Sweet Home for the Perforce Community
As someone who has made a career out of making tools for Perforce, one of my biggest frustrations has always been that there isn’t a good place to put them. I could put them on a code hosting site, but how will people find them? I could write about them here on the blog, but how do people find out about changes and updates that would benefit them?
Historically we had the Public Depot, but it didn’t have a fantastic system for discovery and it was difficult to sign up or follow projects.
Thankfully the stars aligned and right as the community team was looking for a way to host our open source projects Perforce Swarm was released. If you aren’t familiar with it, Swarm is our code collaboration tool that makes it a piece of cake to review changes across a wide variety of files. With a bit of work we were able to extend Swarm to make it the face of our new open source hosting site, the Perforce Workshop.
If you’d like to hear more about the Perforce Workshop please check out my recent webinar on it where I talk about some of the tech involved and give a tour of the site. Or throw caution to the wind and just pop over to the Workshop and sign up! If you have any questions feel free to hit me up at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Twitter.
