Introducing the QA Wizard Pro Server

We added some cool new features to QA Wizard Pro 2011.1—from a new Keyword view for scripts to more supported technologies, this is a very exciting release. But the thing I am the most excited about is the new QA Wizard Pro Server. Truthfully, the QA Wizard Pro Server is not completely new. If you've used QA Wizard Pro, you might be familiar with the Global Repository Server. The QA Wizard Pro Server is a mix of the Global Repository and new enhancements for reporting and monitoring script status. Just like the Global Repository, its use is optional. Every time a QA Wizard Pro script or batch file runs, the results can be stored in the QA Wizard Pro Server. The run results are stored in an RDBMS database, which now provides a permanent home for run results. The default RDBMS is SQLite. You can also use Microsoft SQL and Oracle. The other enhancement that the QA Wizard Pro Server provides is a more powerful status tool. The status tool now connects only to the QA Wizard Pro Server, instead of each machine that is running scripts. This results in even better performance. [caption id="attachment_8727" align="aligncenter" width="550" caption="Status Tool"]Status Tool[/caption] Because the status tool now connects to this database, you can use it to view data from previous runs. Storing the data in an RDBMS means you can query the database for custom reports. It also means the data is available to the Seapine ALM Reporting Platform. This allows QA Wizard Pro to become even more integrated with the rest of the Seapine ALM tools. You can now create reports that tie script results from QA Wizard Pro with test cases and test runs in TestTrack. For Seapine ALM RP to read this data, you must store the QA Wizard Pro Server data in Microsoft SQL or Oracle and configure it to connect to the Seapine License Server. The QA Wizard Pro Server is a significant step in the progression of QA Wizard Pro. If you already have QA Wizard Pro, make sure you upgrade to the latest version. If you're not a current QA Wizard Pro user, why not start your evaluation now?
