Moving users to an edge server

When the edge server has been set up (see Setting up a commit/edge configuration),

1. Check that any required authentication or single sign-on authentication triggers are installed on the edge server.

2. Verify the authentication process.

3. Inform the appropriate users and groups to use the edge server.

4. Provide those users with the P4PORT setting for the edge server so they can connect and log on.

5. Instruct your users to create a new workspace on the edge server.

   Tip

   An alternative to creating new workspaces is reloading workspaces from the commit server. This requires an unload depot A special depot for infrequently used metadata or to facilitate reloading workspaces that have been moved to a different server. to have been set up (see Unload depot) and will cause workspaces to be unloaded from the commit server to the edge server.
