Hi, my name is Gerhard Krüger, and today we're going to be taking a look at creating and recording Helix TCM (formerly TestTrack TCM) test cases from QA Wizard Pro.
Now, once we've logged into Helix TCM and we go to our test cases list view, you'll notice that there's a new button called “Record”. I’m going to select this button, which will open up QA Wizard Pro, and it will prompt me to select the application that I would like to record my test case script against. I'm going to select the application and hit the “Record” button. This will open up the application, and I will now be able to fill in information into my application, such as some text information to the Summary field, selecting a couple of drop-down lists, etc.
In the background, QA Wizard Pro is now recording all of these steps, and will be building a script for us that we can later visually see and use in Helix TCM. Once I've filled in some of my fields in my application, I'm going to click on a button at the bottom called “Summarize”, and I'm going to go ahead and exit the application. It’s very important to note that this will also work on a web-based application, so you can use this for Windows applications, as well as your web applications.
Now, once we've finished, we'll select the “Stop” button from our little toolbar, and the system will now be generating our script for us. Once it's finished this, you'll notice it will open up the add test case window, and we can now select our required fields as per the required field set in Helix TCM. But you'll notice, in the steps view, we now have a list of all the steps as we recorded them, with the screenshots included, so this gives us a standardized method of recording test cases where the wording will be exactly the same for the steps we record for any other test cases. Inside of Helix TCM, our new test case has been created.
