Using The Control Panel

The P4Web control panel, visible at the top of every P4Web page, offers shortcut buttons and drop-down menus. It also shows your Perforce configuration information, and in some cases, recent depot activity. Some of the shortcuts buttons and menu choices are available only if you're using a private P4Web Helper; they won't be visible to P4Web Viewer users.

Shortcut buttons

Depending on the P4Web page you're on, you'll see a selection of "shortcut buttons." These buttons provide links to many of the operations also available in the drop-down menus. In most browsers you can mouse over the buttons to see brief descriptions of what they do:


Return to Path Browser or File Browser
Preview sync to head revisions
Sync to head revisions
Show files in current path as well as subdirectories
Hide files in current path (show subdirectories only)
Show recent activity bar in control panel
Hide recent activity bar in control panel

Open for delete
Diff workspace file
Open for edit
Lock opened files
Unlock locked files
Launch interactive resolve program
Submit default changelist

Show extended filelog
Show filelog
Show file text
Revert opened files if unchanged
Switch between depot/client view
Edit the current client spec

Drop-down menus

You'll find three drop-down menus in the control panel: , , and .

Configuration settings

The banner at the top of the P4Web control panel shows the P4Web page you're on, and your current Perforce port, user, and client configuration settings. You can change the current client workspace setting by clicking Go To->Settings.

Recent activity

The control panel can be set to show the five most recent changes to the current file or path when displaying Path Browser and File Browser pages. Use either the "Show Recent Activity" shortcut button, or Go To->Settings to set this preference.
