Upgrading Swarm
The section describes how to upgrade a Swarm package, OVA, or tarball installation to a newer release.
If you are not already running Swarm, none of these instructions apply to you. Instead, see the Swarm installation instructions.
Choose your upgrade process:
- Upgrading a Ubuntu package installation.
- Upgrading a CentOS/RHEL package installation.
- Upgrading a tarball installation.
- Upgrading an OVA installation, do one of the following:
- Upgrading from a Swarm 2021.1 or later OVA installation, see Upgrading a Ubuntu package installation.
- Upgrading from a Swarm 2020.2 or earlier OVA installation:
From Swarm version 2021.1, the Swarm OVA operating system has been updated to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (previously Ubuntu 16.04 LTS). If you are using the 16.04 LTS OVA, we recommend you deploy the 20.04 LTS OVA and move your existing Swarm installation to your new OVA. For instructions on deploying the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS OVA and moving your Swarm instance to it, see Deploy and configure a Swarm VM from an OVA and Moving your Swarm instance.
