2016 Life Sciences Survey: Preliminary Data

2016 Life Sciences Product Development SurveySeapine’s 2016 Life Sciences Product Development Survey continues through the end of August, but we’re already seeing some interesting findings. For example, the survey asks: How difficult is it to meet the business needs of the following departments?
  • Marketing and Research
  • Project Management
  • Engineering
  • Software Development
  • Hardware Development
  • QA Testing (V&V)
  • Regulatory (Internal)
  • Regulatory (External Agencies)
  • Executive Management
  • Board/Investors
Which department did respondents rank most difficult? If you guessed “Regulatory (External Agencies),” guess again. So far, survey results indicate that “Software Development” departments’ needs are more difficult to meet than external agencies like the FDA. Given how difficult it is to satisfy the FDA, that is a surprising finding. Some possible reasons for these early results:
  • Software Development understands software tools exist to make their job less manual.
  • Software Development knows that everything doesn’t need to be so manual and wants to streamline processes.
  • Software Development needs to access user requirements, which is not always easy.
The survey is open until August 31, and we’re still looking for input from industry professionals. Take the 2016 Life Sciences Product Development Survey today.
