The PERFORCE RESEARCH REPORT CITATION AND USE GUIDELINES (these “Guidelines”) govern the citation, reproduction, and use of research reports published by Perforce Software, Inc. (“Perforce”), whether produced independently or in collaboration with contributing organizations.
1. CITATION FORMAT
When citing a Perforce research report, please use the following format:

CO-PRODUCED REPORTS: Perforce Software, Inc., [Partner Organization(s)], [Report Title], [Month Year]. Available at [URL].
Example: Perforce Software, Inc., Eclipse Foundation, and Open Source Initiative, 2026 State of Open Source Report, June 2026. Available at https://www.perforce.com/resources/opl/2026-state-of-open-source-report
All citations must name every producing organization. Omitting one or more co-producers is not permitted.
2. USAGE AND ATTRIBUTION GUIDELINES
Citations must clearly reference the report title, publication date, and the producing organization(s).
Data, statistics, and direct quotes must be reproduced verbatim. Paraphrased summaries are permitted if clearly identified as such and if they do not alter the original meaning or context.
Charts, tables, or figures reproduced from the report must include a visible source line referencing the report title, producing organization(s), and publication year.
Use of the report for editorial, academic, or commercial commentary is permitted with proper attribution, subject to the quantity limits and restrictions below.
Third parties may excerpt up to three (3) non-contiguous data points, statistics, or sentences from the report per publication without prior approval, provided proper attribution is included. Reproduction of any larger portion of the report requires prior written permission from Perforce.
Sharing individual data points, charts (within the excerpt limit), or brief excerpts on social media is encouraged, provided each post includes attribution and a link to the full report.
Systematic extraction, scraping, data mining, or automated harvesting of data or content from the report is permitted.
3. RESTRICTIONS
The report content may not be presented in a misleading manner or used to imply endorsement by Perforce, its affiliates, or any co-producing organization(s).
The report may not be republished, sold, licensed, or redistributed as a standalone product or as part of a paid offering without prior written permission.
Creation of derivative works incorporating material from this report, including but not limited to competing research reports, data compilations, paid analyses, syndicated content, infographics for sale, or commercial training materials, is prohibited without prior written permission.
The report may not be offered for download behind a third-party registration gate, paywall, or lead-capture form, or used to collect personal data on behalf of any entity other than Perforce, without Perforce’s prior written permission.
Use of report content in competitive marketing, competitive sales collateral, or product-comparison materials requires prior written permission from Perforce.
Perforce logos, trademarks, and brand assets may not be used without Perforce’s prior written authorization. The ® symbol should accompany the first prominent use of "Perforce" in any publication citing the report.
The report content, data, or any portion thereof, may not be used as input for, or for the training, development, fine-tuning, or validation of, any artificial intelligence, machine learning, or generative AI system, model, or algorithm without the prior written permission from Perforce.

Data and findings reflect conditions as of the date of publication and should not be cited as current beyond twelve (12) months from publication without independent verification. Reliance on this report is at the user's sole risk.
5. ENFORCEMENT
Perforce reserves the right to revoke any permissions granted under these guidelines, to require removal of improperly used content, and to pursue all available legal remedies against any party that violates these terms. Violations may also result in denial of future permission requests.
