Trust is absolutely fundamental to everything we do.
We are a financial services company, so we handle a significant amount of sensitive data. Our customers trust us to hold that data securely and to use it appropriately, and that trust is core to our business.
We are moving heavily toward automation and modernization. Our goal is to achieve faster time to market while reducing complexity. One of the key initiatives we are focused on is integrating data automation alongside our other automation efforts. That way, when we deliver an environment or a capability, the data comes with it.
We have a massive database—about 450 terabytes in size. Historically, it took us as long as 28 days to export the data, mask it, and import it into a lower environment. As a result, this became a once‑a‑year activity. Most releases were tested on outdated data, and the quality of those tests suffered. With Delphix, we automated the process end to end and reduced that timeline from 28 days to about four days. Protecting data is at the core of everything we do in the financial services industry.
We manage highly sensitive information, including bank details, account numbers, names, and addresses.
Data masking is absolutely critical. We have one production environment, but anywhere from 12 to 20 nonproduction environments. We perform extensive checks to ensure that no production data ever accidentally makes its way into a nonproduction environment.
Masking sits at the center of everything we do. Because we are already using Delphix and leveraging virtualization, we already have a secure copy of the data. That makes it much easier to place it into a vault and protect it. In the event of a ransomware attack, we know exactly where to go. In many ways, we are only just beginning to realize what is possible.
Delphix is well established across certain applications and platforms, but we still have a long way to go in unlocking its full potential. Over the next three years, global data growth will reach unprecedented levels. Organizations need to start thinking about the impact of that growth. Every system creates a data footprint, and managing that data in an effective and sustainable way is not optional — it is essential.
