Back to topHigh-Level Overview: What Are Delphix and K2View Used For?
Every test data management provider has its own best-fit use cases. Here’s what Delphix and K2view offer, including which use cases they support.
What Delphix Is Designed to Do
Delphix offers enterprise-ready test data management for complex businesses by unifying data delivery, governance, and compliance in a single secure platform. With it, you can leverage automated sensitive data discovery, masking, provisioning and versioning — all of which help enterprises accelerate innovation and reduce data privacy risk.
Delphix is purpose-built around test data delivery, masking, and synthetic data for DevOps and AI-driven development. It connects to existing databases and/or deploys alongside them, so that you can virtualize, mask, and provision data copies. It delivers AI-ready test data on demand.
What K2view Is Designed to Do
K2view is a new operational data fabric with a business entity approach. It requires entity modeling and ingestion into its fabric before you can provision test data. While provisioning datasets, K2view users must re-extract and reassemble datasets per use case. These partial, entity-based extracts result in testing without full system context. However, K2view is able to provide fast access to operational or customer-level data.
When it comes to data protection, K2view will collect data and mask it in flight. However, masking data “in flight” means you don’t have a persistent masked dataset or repeatability across environments.
Back to topKey Differences Between Delphix and K2view, at a Glance
Before we dive into the full roster of Delphix vs. K2view capabilities, I’ll give you the short-and-sweet version. The differences between Delphix and K2view can be narrowed down to four core features of each:
Delphix
- End-to-end coverage across DevOps, analytics, and AI pipelines.
- Full hybrid/multi-cloud support (AWS, Azure, GCP, on-prem)
- Combines virtualization, masking, governance, and synthetic data in one platform and across 170+ sources.
- AI-ready platform with synthetic data, automation, and compliance built-in.
K2View
- Virtualizes data by entity (e.g., customer, account), optimized for subset-driven delivery rather than full, writable database environments.
- Cloud compatible, but fragmented.
- Lacks governance, lineage for at-scale pipelines.
- Supports operational AI access at an entity level.
Side-by-Side Feature Comparison: Delphix and K2view for Enterprise Use Cases
Now, we’ll dig into the specifics in each core use case that an enterprise may need solutions for: sensitive data discovery, masking, data virtualization and delivery, data privacy compliance, and synthetic data.
| Offering | Delphix | K2view | Where Delphix Wins |
| Sensitive Data Discovery | Effortlessly identifies PII, PHI, PCI, and other sensitive data by scanning data for names, birth dates, and social security numbers, etc., across hundreds of data sources. | Only uses entity-based sensitive data discovery tools. | Delphix thoroughly reduces compliance exposure and privacy risk across all datasets.
|
| Data Privacy Compliance | Helps businesses achieve compliance with data privacy laws (including GDPR, FINRA, EU AI Act, CCPA, and GLBA) by enabling them to assess data risk, mask sensitive information, and generate realistic but fictitious data. | Provides basic masking within its entity model, but does not offer the breadth of regulatory coverage (GDPR, FINRA, EU AI Act, CCPA, GLBA) or the risk assessment capabilities required for enterprise data privacy compliance.
| Delphix enables you to control who accesses what data, when, and how. |
| Data Masking | Transforms sensitive data values into fictitious yet realistic equivalents, while still preserving the business value and referential integrity of the data. Masking not only ensures that transformed data is still usable in non-production environments but also entails an irreversible process. Delphix masking does not store any data. All masking occurs in a secure zone, with role-based access controls and network isolation.
| Protects data in flight via dynamic masking, meaning there’s no persistent masked dataset or ability to enforce consistent masking rules across use cases. This does not scale effectively for large data volumes and struggles to address enterprise scale.
| Delphix masking protects large, distributed datasets across cloud and on-premisesenvironments. It enables consistent, high-performance masking for numerous use cases at enterprise scale, while K2View struggles with large datasets. |
| Test Data Management | Dynamically virtualizes compliant, AI-ready data at scale with minimal storage, enabling rapid provisioning without maintaining full database copies. | Leverages a business entity approach that collects data, masks in flight, and provisions it. | Delphix provisions entire application-consistent datasets, while K2view provisions partial, entity-based extracts. |
| Data Virtualization & Delivery | Delivers application data in minutes and eliminate data sprawl across lower environments with database cloning and virtualization. | Provisions partial, entity-based extracts. | Delphix offers fresher, safer test data, with far less infrastructure overhead. You can provision entire application-consistent datasets, reduce data footprints by 10x, and accelerate provisioning times by 100x.
|
| Test Data Self-Service | Provides instant access to production-like datasets with full isolated environments per user. There’s no dependency on manual data preparations, and APIs and Delphix MCP server can deliver the data through automated and agent-driven workflows. | Offers entity-level data subsetting, reservation, rollback, and refresh. | Delphix offers complete self-service environments rather than fragmented subsets. They’refully automated and provide immediate provisioning — no reconstruction required. |
| Synthetic Data | Enables synthetic data generation at scale, using AI to discover and infer metadata, relationships, and context to create realistic, scenario-specific datasets with strong referential integrity across sources.
| Integrates synthetic data generation via rules, cloning masking-based, and GenAI. | Delphix provides centralized governance and control to prevent data breaches and LLM leaks, purpose-built to support secure, enterprise-grade GenAI and agent-driven use cases. |
| Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) | Prices based on source data size — not usage — so you can reuse full datasets without scaling fees.
| Requires heavy services for implementation, so maintenance costs rise with scale. | Delphix has the lowest TCO through consolidation and automation. Delphix customers typically experience 408% ROI in the first 3 years.*

What Are the Integration Capabilities of Delphix Compared to K2view?
With its flexibility and ease of use, Delphix can integrate with all major platforms (including Oracle, SQL Server, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) and can source data from mainframe, cloud-native, or hybrid sources.
While K2view can also integrate with many data sources, it’s not as simple. Due to how K2view leverages Java Database Connectivity, Open Database Connectivity, and other APIs in their process, users don’t have true enterprise workload support. They often have extracted or reconstructed datasets, loss of transactional context, and performance limitations at scale.
Delphix delivers deep, production-grade integration with enterprise systems — not surface-level connectivity that compromises fidelity and scale. Take a look at the chart below to better understand the areas of integration for Delphix and K2view.
Area | Delphix | K2view |
| Integration Approach | API-first, DevOps-native | Data fabric platform |
| CI/CD Integration | Native and direct | Indirect via fabric |
| Orchestration | MCP + APIs + workflows | Fabric-driven orchestration |
| Cloud-Native (K8s, PaaS) | Fully aligned with K8s and PaaS ecosystems | Requires integration into fabric |
| Architecture Impact | Minimal | Requires new platform |
| Time to Value | Fast | Longer (model + platform setup) |
