Helix Core Empowers Auditing and Compliance at ORCC

Online Resources (ORCC), acquired by ACI Worldwide, chose Helix Core to satisfy the compliance and auditing requirements of both Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC).

We have never had an error, failure, or loss of data on Helix Versioning Engine.

Helix is truly a great product: robust, reliable, and fast. Whether working from home over a VPN connection or in the office on a LAN, the difference in performance is nearly indistinguishable.

Regulating a Financial Powerhouse

Founded in 1989, ORCC powers web-based financial services for financial institutions, billers, and credit service providers. Their customers include Commerce Bank, M&T Bank, Discover, Target, Kaiser Permanente, Kohl's, and others. ORCC’s suite of account and payment services are customized to drive end-user adoption. They serve over $10 million billable end-users, and processes $100 billion in annual payments.

Helix Core is used to develop the bill payment solution for their internet banking application. To help satisfy product development, a robust tool was needed to support the ever-changing banking regulations.

Try and Buy with Helix Core

After reviewing several version control solutions, ORCC chose Helix Core. They passed over AccuRev, ClearCase, CVS, PVCS, Seapine, Subversion (SVN), and VSS. The ability to try Helix Core and download migration test scripts set Perforce apart. Not to mention all of the help available on the website boosted appeal.

One of the most important considerations for ORCC when it came to version control was the ability to integrate. ORCC develops dynamic, web-based applications using ASP.NET. Their automated build tool, Cruise Control .NET, integrates seamlessly with Helix Core. This tool monitors changes and alerts the user when they are detected. They are able to trace these changes by embedding the code into the Helix branch and the changelist. This removes any ambiguity between the build result and the source code. To manage defects, ORCC uses Atlassian's Jira which is also tightly integrated with Helix Core.

Rave Reviews for Perforce

Online Resources relies on Helix Core for all their version control needs. "We have never had an error, failure, or loss of data on Helix Core. Helix is truly a great product: robust, reliable, and fast. Whether working from home over a VPN connection or in the office on a LAN, the difference in performance is nearly indistinguishable," said Bob Vandehey.

"Additionally, the Perforce technical support team is second to none. There is no waiting to talk to a technical support engineer. Not only are the responses fast, but of quality, too," said Gollob, who currently spends less than an hour a day performing admin tasks.

Because ORCC has to be SOX and FFIEC compliant, Helix Core highlights irregularities and tracks these instances by changelist numbers. The strong traceability, reproducibility, and audit capabilities in Helix Core make it easy to follow these regulations.
