Perforce a Strategic Element of Seasun Games Modernization of Game Development

Minneapolis, MN, March 15, 2017 — Perforce Software, a provider of solutions to DevOps teams requiring massive scale, visibility and speed along the development lifecycle, has been selected by Seasun Games, a leading Chinese game developer, to provide multinational development synchronization across the globe. As the industry standard for game development version control, Perforce was tapped to meet ambitious benchmarks for speed and stability as Seasun established their first North American studio, in Redwood City, California, to drive the new modernization initiatives.

"Perforce has the fastest data synchronization speed between two continents based on our tests," says Mantin Lu, Director of Product Development at Seasun Games. "It is improving code stability and allowing multi-person collaboration instantly."

Seasun Games is well known for their innovative game development in PC and mobile applications, which has spanned more than two decades. The senior management team decided to change their traditional game development methods to improve efficiency in their production process. This involved replacing a previous and unreliable solution, as they sought a platform with large scale project capabilities, greater speed, more flexible branching and shelving measures, as well as seamless management of all of their massive binary files.

"Bringing Perforce into our operation was one of the most important strategic moves," says Lu. "We've found that our production efficiency has already increased by 20 percent," adding that Seasun is optimistic this trend will climb, especially as the solution is fully integrated within their build system.

In addition to the scalability and performance speed offered by Perforce Helix, the solution has improved the ease of use over Seasun's previous platform.

"Helix has allowed us to edit files and let users run tests with ease, " says Lu. "It's really simple to manage branch operations and streams, all in one place, too."
